WO3, yellow powder. Insoluble in water, soluble in alkali, and slightly soluble in acid. It is used for making high melting point alloy and hard alloy, making tungsten wire and fireproof material, etc. It can be obtained by adding acid from tungsten ore and soda ash.
Chemical properties: sublimation at 850 C. It does not react with the inorganic acids except hydrofluoric acid. It can be slowly dissolved in ammonia or concentrated alkali solution. Reacting with chlorine gas to produce oxychloride, but can not react with bromine and iodine
 
Usage:
Tungsten trioxide is mainly used for the production of tungsten powder and tungsten carbide powder reduction calcination, and then used for the production of hard alloy products, such as tool and die manufacturing. At the same time also can be used in the manufacture of pure tungsten, tungsten rod, tungsten wire, tungsten electrode; shielding material and use of weights and radiation. There are also a small amount of coloring agent used as a yellow ceramic in industrial production. Tungsten oxide tungsten is used as an important anticorrosive paint and coating material in [2] shipbuilding industry
