1, appearance and Description:

High Purity Hafnium also called Iodine crystalline hafnium, a silver gray metallic crystal with a metallic luster.

Chemical formula: Hf molecular weight: 178.49

Melting point: about 2227 C boiling point: about 4602 degrees centigrade

Density: 13.31 grams / cubic centimeter

2. Nature:

It has good corrosion resistance and is not easy to be corroded by ordinary acid and alkali water solution, and is easily dissolved in hydrofluoric acid to form a fluorine complex. Under high temperature, can be directly combined with hafnium oxygen and nitrogen gas, the formation of hafnium oxide and nitride; stability in the air, powdered hafnium very easy combustion; thermal neutron capture cross section of hafnium and hafnium have nuclear power is prominent, the development of atomic energy industry indispensable rare materials.

3. Use:

It is mainly used to produce hafnium based alloy materials. Hafnium can be used as a structural material for jet engines and missiles because hafnium has fast endothermic and exothermic properties (1 times faster than zirconium and titanium). The refractory properties of hafnium make it available as the blade of a turbojet aircraft for the solidification of a point pressure jet engine. It can also be used to make valves, nozzles and other high temperature parts.
