Lanthanum boride [1] (alias six lanthanide) is a chemical substance, and the molecular formula is LaB6. Red purple solid. Isometric. The density is 2.61g/cm3. The melting point is 2210 degrees centigrade. Higher than the melting point is decomposed. At normal temperature, it is insoluble in water and acid. The three oxidation, two lanthanum and borax are dissolved in a suitable molten salt, and six boron lanthanum is deposited on graphite or steel cathode at high temperature by electrolysis of graphite anode. Because of its high melting point and high radiating performance, it can replace high melting point metal and alloy in nuclear fusion reactor and thermal electronic power generation.

There are six lanthanum boride containing B: 85.8 ~ 88 (WT)%, with 85.8% B for 88% purple and blue; density is 4.7g/cm3, the room temperature resistance of 15~27 ohm, Vivtorinox hardness is 27.7GPa, the work function of 2.66eV, 29A/cm2 - K2 emission constant.
